Egret?

    I'm in North Co Cork. I've had two sightings now of a white Heron like bird, both times in flight with no time for a photo.

    Could this be an Egret or are there other possibilities? I've 50 miles inshore.

    Yes that sounds exactly like a little egret.
    They are quite common in ireland but I havent seen as many of them since the freeze of 2010.
    Ive seen them in flooded fields inland before too.

    will try and spot him again and get a photo....fields were flooded the other day, so maybe that has a bearing....On the River Dalau, Kanturk.
