Was thinking of buying a donor gsr lancer and taking the engine for my 1.3, what's the average cost to get a garage to do this and where's best? Preferably dublin area? Have a car lined up absolute cracker

Make sure the generation of your lancer matches the gsr`s gen, as engine orientation can be different. Other than that it is basically plug and play, old engine out, new engine in.

Keep in mind that you`d be better off using the gsr harness and ecu, you can use your 1.3 gearbox with flywheel if you want fwd, however you will go through clutches in no time.

Price depends on what you really want, eg if you just want to swap the engine and go fwd stock then its easy to any competent mechanic and not too labour intensive either. To make a proper conversion, you`d ideally need to upgrade things, like intercooler with piping and at least do a rear disc conversion.

It really depends on the mechanic and complexity.
I have spent 5k so far and I have not turned a bolt.

    You need to quote around.
