Disability Allowance?

Hiya I applied for disability allowance this week as I have suffered from extreme depression and anxiety for over five years now I'm 19 BTW. I have attended psychiatrists in the past and I am attending one currently. My doctor filled out my forms and he wrote that I have severe generalised anxiety and depression. He wrote that this will last indefinitely and that ive been this way since 2010 and he ticked the box that my mental state goes from moderate to severe. Do you think I will get disability on these grounds as my life is a total nightmare because of my mental health issues and I do have doctors and psychiatrists to back it up. Any advice is highly appreciated.

My da had two knee surgeries last one left him unable to work he's just before retirement age. Took well over a year for him to get disability and he was rejected initially...

What type of treatment plan have you been prescribed? To go on disability at such a young age maybe more detrimental long term.

Hope whatever happens you find some relief.

Probably wrong forum better suited to state benefits I think.

But from experience getting disability can take up to 12 months + it's one of the most difficult payments to get and can be a little stressful

    Mod Note
Sorry OP but PI is not the correct forum for this. Moving to State benefits but leaving as closed until the mod team can review and open if suitable.

    Morning OP
Gather up as much evidence of how your illness prevents you from looking for work and send it off
Don't forget to attach a note with your PPSN on it so they know that it's for your application
What really helps is if you could write a letter from yourself describing what a typical day is like for you and how you struggle
Best of luck Apply for SWA while you are waiting
Peace and calm be yours today

i suffer from similar condition and you need to be very clear on how it affects you on a daily basis. Keep a diary if you can, you will need to have this if you need to meet a medical officer. you need to be able to prove that you cant hold down a job, and how your employment would be affected if you were to get a job. i struggled to hold down a job for 10 years and then eventually they gave me DA when they realised that I just couldnt work effectively.
Best of luck with the application.
