Stream to PS3 without wifi network?

Anyone know of a handy-ish way to do this? I have video files I'd like to be able to play through the PS3 but the only "easy" option I've come across is to have my phone and console connected to the same network which isn't an option for me unfortunately.

Could you turn your phone into a WiFi hotspot and connect your PS3 to it.
The download a upnp server app for your phone like this:
