    Hi

I am just wondering which combo box to get.

I am looking a box with integrated freesat(7day epg) and Soarview (mpeg4 dvb-t2) tuners.

any ideas on the cheapest and most recommended options?

I saw this and was thinking of getting it?

    Ferguson Ariva 253

Any idea of the best prices?

    Cheers :)

There is no such box available yet.

If you do a search here this question comes up quite regularly, so you should have no bother finding plenty of answers.

well if you want to be pedantic, the OP named a box including model number and you stated that it didnt exist so maybe you should have pointed out the Freesat issue to him and not me :)

    Thanks :)

For a box which does "freeview" and soarview compatible will this do?

I am looking for something which does the job for the parents.

So with freeview EPG is only now and next? Is there any other benefits for freesat v free view?

Do you mean Free To Air as opposed to Freesat? Im assuming you do as freeview is the UK terrestrial setup via a rooftop aerial.

The main differences between Freesat & FTA are Freesat will update automatically if new channels are added or if the channel frequencies change. It also has a 7 day EPG which (I think) the FTA boxes dont have.

From reading other threads here it seems that Freesat boxes will cost a fair bit more than FTA so its pretty much swings and roundabouts :)

Other, more knowledgeable, contributors here will be able to point out any other relevant points I may/probably have missed.

    Thanks for that :)

    This model states freesat.

    So this is wrong then?

It is stating Freesat incorrectly. It will receive the Free-To-Air satellite channels, but Freesat is really a userguide/EPG over the top of the channels which makes it easy to navigate through them, it also handles auto updates when channels change.

A F-T-A receiver will not have the Freesat software and will not be as user friendly.

FTA does not equal Freesat. Official Freesat receivers will have their branding on them, such as:

If you're not used to the various setups it can be difficult to understand the differences. Free To Air, Freesat and Freeview are all words commonly associated with receiving channels via a satellite dish but Freeview is terrestrial tv so its either Freesat or Free To Air. Just to note that Freesat is a brand name and shouldnt be confused with the FTA.

As pointed out by Niman above the Ferguson model you linked to is not a Freesat box and accordingly I would be careful in dealing with any seller who does not understand what Freesat is.

Im far from an expert on these things but if you have a quick read at this it should explain it all a lot better than me.

I'm leaving $ky in January and was hoping someone may be able to help me with choosing what is the best Freesat + box on the market that can record two channels while watching another, amongst having the on demand features along with it.

I bought a Cloud-IBOX 2 Plus that,I know can receive FTA Channels and I bought it also for illegal use as well, that I'll not got into because it's not allowed on this forum.

I'm also looking at having Saorview set up but I'm not too sure how,I go about getting it done. I know I'll need a aerial put up but,I then see in shops indoor aerials for Saorview and I'm just a little confused at which I should be purchasing. Is there any Saorview + boxes on the market or will I need too purchase a HDD too record from it ?

All the Freesat+ receivers are twin-tuner models i.e. watch one/record one or record two/playback one.

There is one Saorview+ receiver on the market, the WP6500TTR. A combi Saorview/Freesat combi receiver is rumoured for next year.

Switching to Saorview info - http://www.saorview.ie/get-saorview/make-the-switch/

The use of an indoor aerial will depend on what the Saorview signal is like indoors, an outdoor aerial is always recommended (see section 8.2 of this document).

No confusion. The broadcasters recommend an outdoor aerial above the rooftops so that is what you should get. Don't ruin the ship for a cents worth of tar.

Thanks for all the help,I picked up the Walker Saorview box today from Power City and have gone for the Humax HDR-100S for Freesat.
