Just bought a pair of Beats by Dre earphones for my sister for €38.99 on Groupon. I've seen these being sold for €80+ wish i could afford to by a pair for myself to be honest, great deal!

    Groupon Link

You will need to be signed up to Groupon to view the offer obviously and there's also only 11 hours left on the sale.

Folks please just be aware you are buying a brand rather than quality headphones. I would recommend Sennheiser.

These may be fake also, so be wary.

Beats may very well be bad headphones but if someone wants them as a present then its probably best to get them what they want. If you can afford the headphones of course...

There's no point presenting them with a pair of sennehieiser's and reading them a tech sheet as to why they are better. They likely don't give a **** and would end up being upset.

Yeah i wouldn't fancy trying to convince a kid that Santa thought that the sennheisers were the better earphones...

I bought xiaomi piston 3 earphones....15 euro..without doubt the best earphones I have ever bought.
I managed to wash them and they still work!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,094 ✭✭✭SpaceCowb0y

I was buying these for my sister because i know she has mentioned her pals all have them and know she will be delighted with them. Try telling an 18 year old girl that Sennheiser are the brand she should have because they're quality are better.

If you have no interest in buying Beats by Dre that's cool but don't bother posting? I posted this in case anyone does want to buy them. Less than 40 quid for a pair of well known earphones that will make a well received present is fine by me :)

I think the people on about the Beats are not people who are buying them as a gift, but for themselves.

Yeah because their sister probably wanted a pair of Beats.

    Now you have it!

Anyway this has gotten off topic... if you don't want/like Beats earphones don't avail of the offer. If you do or know someone who does and you want to buy them a gift at the minute these can be bought at less than half price on Groupon.

    Simples.

This isn't a debate about superior quality products. My sister couldn't give a rats, I know for a fact she will just be happy to have the brand.

these must be really old stock, monster used to manufacture (and had a share in the company) all of beats headphones but had a major falling out and split in 2012

I'd be delighted if people listening to the free Samsung/Apple/Whatever headphones on the DART or Bus bought these Beats in-ears instead!

I was laughing in the airport the last day , there was a pallet full of beats headphones on sale at circa 300euros and there was a sign like please take you selection to the till, like they were pairs of hot buns !!!

if ya told someone a few years ago headphones would become a 300euro consumable item they would have fallen of there chair laughing !!! whether there any good or not is another story

i know nothing about headphone quality so can i just jump in and ask what would be a good pair under say 60 euro at most would those seinn ones be the job?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 802 ✭✭✭KingJamsie

    OP

Those are 1st gen UrBeats & not great

HMV have 2nd Gen for €74.99 & warranty probably better

I got these beats earphones with a HMV voucher a couple of years back, went through 2 pairs of them within 2 months and changed them to the headphones. Then got some free with my new phone soon after and they broke too. For reference my House of Marley ones from Argos have lasted 4 or 5 months now through probably worse treatment.

    Buy these:

Have had mine for months, and still going strong. The quality is more what you'd expect our of 60e earphones, and they sound great. Win win win imo.

I can actually related to that as well. Mine while still working, have a broken wire somewhere after about 6 months use so haven't used them for yonks.

I was perfectly happy with the sound quality. Even though I switched to over the ear headphones from Sony soon after as it's a bit more comfortable to listen for longer periods.

I couldn't recommend other of the beats range though. I liked the in ear headphone.

Yes, but I bet they wanted a pair of beats over ear headphones. Not these, they came free with several HTC phones years ago, are small and not big and flashy like the kids want..

They have been around for a while too. They do give decent enough sound, although lots of them are fake. 40euro is not really a deal, they are readily available for that price all over the web.

He gave a very legitimate warning about fakes. If the price is too good to be true something may be up. You have paid this company 20 euro for these and said they are 80 elsewhere, so I would be very wary. You also gave groupon 20 euro, they take 50% of the price as standard.

People need to be aware of this, and this is why the majority of groupon deals are for service industry type things, like massages, hair dressing, beauty parlours, food etc. Many are on huge margins and if there is not much business they are better off not being empty, even if only getting 1/4 the typical price.

But when I see electronics sold at 1/4 the usual price it sets alarm bells off. I was shocked when I heard groupon take 50%
Type fake urbeats into google and you will see loads of videos on how to spot them.

Any chance of them getting here before xmas though?

Nah, I would very much doubt it. 4 weeks is a minimum for most orders from such companies. You'd pay double the cost of the headphones for any expedited shipping. You're best bet would probably be to look at sellers that are based in the UK on ebay, you'll just pay more.

Be sure to check out feedback, many chinese sellers pose as UK based ones. And many UK sellers are just dropshippers -i.e. they do not hold or handle goods, you pay them and they pay chinese suppliers who send direct to you.

This review site has poor reviews for the company in the original groupon link.

if using it with a mobile device then bluetooth headphones might be worth a look.

for instance these lads for €37 (plus post) off amazon germany
    http://www.amazon.de/dp/B015R0YN2S/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1YOP3IZ1J2TCR&coliid=I21FE7WO3NBFS2
its from amazon rather than a random chinese lad, so should be there for christmas.

it actually makes sense for headphones in general to migrate to being bluetooth/wireless, as the large clunky headphone style is perfect to integrate a bit of a battery and electronics, so for a small bit of extra weight you have a massive benefit in loosing the wire.

When apple introduce their iphone with no headphone jack then expect bluetooth headphones to be the standard rather than exception.
