    So if you bought goods for €1000 you would pay the chinese company this amount. Then customs would charge vat on this. At what rate? and also who is the vat paid to?
    Thanks.

    Good morning sboyle01,

    There is unlikely to be any customs duty involved as most computer parts are zero rated. However, the calculation of VAT is ;

    Cost of product + Freight cost + Duty (if any) @ 23%.

    If the shipment arrives with any of the courier companies, they would clear the shipment automatically (unless specifically instructed not to do so). They would outlay the VAT and Duty (if any) to customs and recover it on delivery. They are also likely to charge a fee for processing the payment to Revenue, somewhere between € 10 and € 15

    If it comes in any other way, there would be different options. Please post again if you need any further information

    Cheers,
