I am a bit confused I hope someone can help me. I have a soarview box which converts my tv to digital and also lets me record on usb.
Now I have a tv which was bought in 2009 which I hooked up to an ariel and lo and behold the tv has saorview which surprised me. So Can I buy something to record from the tv to usb. What am I looking for?
    Thanks

Tghe same asa works for recording from the box would probably work for the TV too, if the TV has the capability.

What's the make & model of the TV?

User manual makes no mention of a USB connection, let alone recording feature.

Does your particular example have a USB port?

no, what I wanted to know is there something like the saorview box that allows to record onto usb connected to the hmdi slot. If the tv didn't have digital I could have used the saorview box.
    thanks for your help

So the Saorview box isn't in use with another TV?

You can still use it with the Samsung, & it will give you the option of watching any different programme while you're recording. Most of these boxes have an aerial-out socket, so connect your aerial to the box aerial-in socket, & a further cable from the box aerial-out to the TV's aerial-in.

As Saorview didn't launch until 2010 how has a 2009 TV got Saorview in it?

Saorview is a brand name, it uses the DVB-T MPEG-4 standard which has been in some TVs since 2007/08.

Saorview has been on since 2008.

Launches are to keep government ministers happy.

2009 onwards saw dvb-t H264 tuners as standard by manufacturers like samsung, sony lg.
