Did this course earlier this year. Practical is good crack. You will be broke into groups and then asked to show and act out various drills. You will enjoy it

There's also a 3 hour workshop that we integrate with the foundation level course .. I think it's called Child Protection in Sport, this is an Irish Sports Council initiative that runs in Dublin anyway thru Games Development in Parnell Park. Our underage coaches would have the foundation course, the child awareness workshop and the Garda vetting as a prerequisite. Good luck

The Child Protection course and Garda vetting are compulsory in my club for anyone having anything to do with underage teams. We recommend all coaches/mentors to do the Foundation level but at the moment it's enough for some but not all of each teams mentors to have it done.

The foundation course is well worth doing for anyone getting involved for the first time in underage coaching especially. It gives you confidence and knowledge and can help parents who have decided to assist with teams that their kids are on even if they have no previous GAA experience.

As far as I'm aware the Code of Conduct course carries over into any other sports affiliated to the Irish Sports Council thus negating the need to repeat it if you are involved elsewhere

    Hi there,

I am after taking over the role of secretary in my local club. I have got the underage coaches to complete the Garda vetting forms and I now want to send them back in. I cant seem to find where I need to send them on the GAA site. Does anyone have the address I need to send them to?

I presume it's "Child Welfare section, Croke Park..." but just in case....

    Thanks.

Nope you send them back to the designated vetting co-ordinator for your county board - they'll then transmit the applicants to NCO in Croke Park, who in turn contact the Garda Vetting Unit. Have a check for the child liaison officer on your county website

    Hi all,

That time of year again for registrations and vetting etc. I took a quick look at the GAA site and from what I can see the Garda vetting has now changed to an e-vetting process. Is that correct or am I misreading this? So I presume I dont need to print off a load of vetting forms and get coaches to fill them all in again?

    Many thanks.

No I think it is all available online now - that's how I just did my vetting for local club. Vetting is really quick now too. I started the process in January 2 1/2 weeks later I got the Garda Vetting Acceptance.
