My experience with rural, western Ireland is 3mb/s when we're signed up for 'up to 20mb',
whats about Sligo town? I assuming it'll be a fairly good improvement if not up to speed with Dublin by now (lots of talk of fibre optics in the west... never hit near me though, still too rural i guess)
If not, how is the 4G down there? im guessing speed is fine thanks to wireless but what about reliability?
It certainly save me alot of money to be on 4G but for gaming a smooth ,consistent connection is vital.

I dont live there anymore but still have family down there so aware of some of the options.

It depends on where in the town but you should have a good possibility of getting VDSL (FTTC) so up to 70/20 if you're close to a cabinet.

UPC is also available in some areas and also Eir's proper fibre i.e. FTTH (branded as Extreme) is available in limited areas.

No idea on 4G but its a shared medium with limited bandwidth compared to the options above so unless there are not many users on your cell it could be flaky, its quite possible in a town that you will be sharing with many users.
