getting 'rent allowance' till your settled in to an area?

I'm 18, finished school and eager to move out of my parents and into my own place.
I'm doing unpaid work experience in a couple places atm to give me something of value on my CV.
    we're in a rural area but I want/need to move to a town .
the only trouble i'm facing is the sparsity of jobs and small, affordable apartments (but more so apartments) in the town,
I would need to acquire both pretty much simultaneously to maintain a living equilibrium.
I do have some money saved but without a job I could burn through it pretty quick if I rent a place, but also Id prefer to keep it for a 'rainy day' down the road.
So if I were to move once i finish the work exp and manage to find a suitable apartment would I be somehow applicable for 'rent allowance' for the few weeks/months it takes to get a stable income?
I would assume normal social welfare would include rent money if you're homeless,
but since I'm not being physically kicked out by my parents Im not officially homeless, is that correct?
    Id appreciate any help,
and If you have any advice/better ideas Id love to hear them.
    thanks.

    Short answer No ,

You would need to be privately renting on your own for 6 months first before you would even be allowed to apply and explain why you can no longer able to pay your rent .

thats a shame. not sure how Ill work around this,
the best, *non-saving depleting* alterative I can think of would be spending 2 hours on the bus everyday going to and from the job in town until I find the place.
btw thanks for the quick reply!

cant edit but im after checking and its actually 3-3.5 hours to and from there on the bus!!
thats not even considering the hour cycle/30 min drive to and from the local bus stop!
i suppose that rules this out as an option aswell :(

You could look at renting a room in a house rather than getting your own apartment straight away?

First of all you would not be applying for rent allowance as its not applicable to someone in your circumstances
You would need to get yourself on the housing list of your Local Authority
Fill up the application form and see how you get on
If you are accepted then you can ask to complete a HAP form
This is an application for a housing assistance payment
In order to quailify for this you need to have already found a place to live
The rent allowance Rent Limits will apply
So look at Rent Limits on www.citizensinformation.ie and check out the rent limit for a single person in the county where you will be going to live
The accommodation you find can be NO MORE then that amount every month
You will not get any financial help for a deposit
Even in the unlikely event that you get this far, you will hit a wall with the HAP application form because it wants evidence of your weekly income be it wages or SW
If you can't show your income then the application can't proceed
You need to draw up a new plan
Get the job first, then look for the flat
It's going to be tough for you
Your most certainly looking at minimum wage at best, and for you minimum wage is less then €8 per hour for the first year unless you get factory or supermarket work
    I wish you good luck
There's a living to be made out there for kids who are prepared to slog it out

Dole for you living at home at your age will be subject to your parents income and at best would be €100 per week

yeah I had considered that too but they seem to be even scarcer than the apartments,
though Im hoping its just a dry spell at the minute.

is that for the first year of employment in your life or in that job?

To get minimum wage which in January will be 9.15 you need to be over 18 and have over one years experience in that position

Well Im just after realizing that 'sharing' is totally separate section to 'rent'.
there's plenty of them , cheap and available to move in right away, they'll be perfect until find somewhere of my own!

Just keep sharing, you might build more savings.
