Commercial Vat Back

    Looking at getting a commercial Car Van for work, wondering what the story is with the vat back from the government, can i claim back on a second hand vehicle or does that only apply to Brand new commercial vehicles.

    im looking to get no older than 2 years, would i be better just buying brand new?

    Back when I sold commercials you could claim VAT on used jeepy commercials (the ones with €50 or €200 VRT) as long as VAT was claimed Day 1 and the garage issued a VAT invoice.
    Not sure that applies to car derived vans though.
    I don't think there's a massive selection of used car vans out there. If you can afford it, a new one would have longer warranty and you could justify financing it over a longer period.
    Again, there isn't a huge range of car vans these days.

    I think Nissan are doing scrappage deals on vans too, but the only one that is a car van is the Qashqai, so would be a good bit dearer than a Golf or Auris type van.
