Dvd Recorder Issue record

Hi Problem recently with our toshiba dvd recorder, it was working perfectly but now it will only record a bit then stop itself, sometimes it records for a couple of hours but then it won't play back at all or it will play a few seconds then stops and skips also won't finalise discs. Hi

Problem recently with our toshiba dvd recorder, it was working perfectly but now it will only record a bit then stop itself, sometimes it records for a couple of hours but then it won't play back at all or it will play a few seconds then stops and skips also won't finalise discs. I have tried all dvds so don't think it's the discs. I was recording a few months back when there was a power cut so maybe damage done.

It will play any movie dvd no problem so it's just the recording issue.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?
