What would be a good computer to edit videos and photos? needs dedicated graphic card and lots of ram. is it true less ddr3 is better than more ddr?

Has anyone used any medion for this? My friend has a medion md8341 since 2010 and it is going fine so thye seemreliable. But she does not do photo editing

What you can get is really down to what you are willing to spend and what exactly you want to do. Don’t get bogged down in DDR3 vs DDR, I doubt there are many machines on the market using DDR2 let alone DDR, most would be DDR3 and at the higher end DDR4

The md8341 would probably be a poor editing computer, a low end i3 and 3GB of ram would get bogged down pretty quick.

If you can give more information about you budget and what type of work you intend on doing (ie 1080 vs 4k, light editing vs heavy multi layer composites) I give you more specific advice but in general,

Processor: try for a mid to high end i5 or i7
RAM: In general 8-16gb is a very nice for photo editing but I would try for 4 at a minimum.
Graphics card: not as important as the others but having a good one means that the computer can use it for extra processing power in certain editing programs
Hard drive: More is generally better as lots of photos and videos can take up a lot of space, but it is also one of the easiest to expand with external hard drives.

One of the best upgrades I made to my PC in a while was moving to and SSD, these are a newer type of hard drive that while more expensive they are considerably faster and really help make the whole pc feel and perform faster.

I am going to be honest finding a decent spec edit machine at that price point with a monitor is difficult but perhaps something like this http://www.komplett.ie/hp-pavilion-500-479nd/80040471/details.aspx a bit short of ram and storage but you could add more later.

Thanks. It is a bit short on ram and 500 gb is a bit small. Could you go up to around 700 mark and intel. i have no experience of amd
    What about
Asus All in One Multi-Touch 8GB/ 2TB Desktop
    ET2321IUTH-BF
    at did dot ie?

With the 529 I was leaving you room to buy a monitor as that doesn't come with one, that will probably bring you to the 700 mark.. The processor in that is intel (i5-4460), its the graphics card that is AMD.

It might be worth having a look over in the PC forum to see if there are any Black Friday / cyber Monday deals to be had.

This one? It sill only has 4GB of ram and uses a slower 2 core i5, the desktop has a faster 4 core.
