    Would these be suitable for an ASUS laptop?

    If it has a 2.5 inch sata HDD in it currently, it should be fine.

    It's probably the difference in paying in Euro v's Sterling and having the Irish vat rate applied that brought it to 41 Sterling.

    I ordered one and paid in sterling and had it shipped with one of the free DPD parcel wizard stays so it was charged at 39.99

    That's probably it, have wizard as well but hadn't address added on Amazon and time was ticking,should be a good upgrade on original 250GB drive!
