Can you split a signal from an aerial in 2?

    Hi folks,

I have an aerial in my attic connected to my to downstairs via an AA2 to receive saorview.
Can I split the line coming down from the aerial in 2 without impacting the signal?
I'm thinking of setting up a 2nd saorview tv.

If you use a decent splitter, each TV point will get a bit less than half the signal available before the split, as there will be some loss in the splitter.

No problem if the signal is strong enough to begin with, but will cause trouble if it's anyway borderline. In that case you could either try improving the signal by purely passive means, maybe by moving the aerial outside, or use an amplifier.

Thx. In this case maybe I could put a 2nd aerial in the attic as I probably won't use the 2nd to that much and losing 50% of the signal would be a lot.

Just use a distribution amp beside the existing aerial and run a second cable to the other TV or a splitter further down the existing cable depending on which is most convenient.

2 aerials in the attic could well interfere with each other. In practice a splitter works, a 50% loss is not as bad as you would think in most cases.
