Resins for Closing threads?

You know when there is a thread about say, a heating boiler, and you need help fixing it, and then you find a thread that's a few years old... You ask a question to said thread, in order to try and fix boiler, why then does it get closed for being old? Is said thread now irrelevant? Are those boilers now no longer worthy of a repair?

I understand the many reasons for closing threads, but do we really need to close them for being old?

Some are closed for poor spelling.

Resins may not be the best choice for repairing a boiler.

Some grand resin there that'd make you forget all about your boiler. PM me.

Proxy Resins are best, but depends on said said boiler.

I bet you re-read your sentence a few times there to make sure you got all of it right. Will I find a perfect spelling history if I look at all your threads.? Yet another provocative boards. Useless.

It's called a 'coffee break'. I'm having a cappuccino. Try one... it might give you a reason to be cheerful...

    Alright, I'll bite.

If you find a really old thread, chances are that most of the posters have forgotten about it or aren't around any more. Therefore, continuing discussion on a really old thread means the other posters won't respond and you will be talking to yourself. If the thread is more than a few years old, you're better off starting fresh.

FYI, this is what happened the last time I tried fixing a boiler while it was still hot.

Lol. This I can laugh at. You don't need a cappuccino to laugh at something. If users want people to laugh, then be funny with impeccabity. Otherwise you're just being a....

I'm with the OP here, there's a much greater chance a poster in an already existing thread will see your reply if you reply in the same thread (subscriptions, email alerts etc), I've posted in some threads before where there seemed to be a poster or two with good knowledge on the subject at hand, only for it to be closed for no other than being old. It's also nice to keep any relevant info all together in the one thread than be scattered amongst closed and new threads. I understand it if somebody resurrects and old thread that there's a lot of ****-stirring in and the likes, but for purely informative and helpful threads, I think they shouldn't be closed.

There's always a Resin for a chocolate chew.

Edit: I probably should give you a Resin for closing this thread.

AH is not the place to discuss the mod actions of other forums, you can drop the mods of the relevant forum a PM with your feedback, or use the feedback forum.

God I'm way too bloody hyper to be posting these boring mod notes.
