Court Summons- illegal left turn

Hi folks, just looking for some advice/ experience here.
Long story short, about 5 months ago I was pulled for making an illegal left turn in Dublin, on the day I was taking a new routed through town so didn't really know the roads. Low and behold a guard observed me and pulled me over. He took my details and told me I would be receiving a fixed penalty notice which I never did. Then about 2 months ago I received a summons to the court for the alleged offense however when I arrived in the court in which I pleaded no contest, I didn't have my driving license with me and so the court teller couldn't process the points on my licensed. I'm a bit miffed at this as I'm pretty sure the summons didn't say anything about bringing my license to court. I asked for clarification from the teller and she said that my summons sheet had already been processed and filed. So because I didn't have my license with me they would now issue another summons and potentially DOUBLE my points and fine. I really think this is b*llsh*t so I just wanted to know if anyone here has been through the court in the last months or so on a similar charge and if so, does it say on the summons that one must bring their license to court? I just want to know if I have grounds to challenge the points and fine as I need my car for work and would ideally like to keep my license clean.
    Many thanks in advance

Nice one - you listened to the eejits and left the licence at home so the points couldn't be applied - they've closed up that frustrating loophole a while back :)

Otherwise, plausible I have to say ;)

There was this ruling 2 weeks ago that allows that practice as nowhere on the summons does it say that's it's an offence not to bring the license
