Volvo V50 1.6 diesel problems

    Hi.
    Bought a Volvo v50 1.6 diesel 06 a year ago.

Car had engine flushed when I bought it.

Drove fine so far, but fuel consumption went slowly but surely way up last two months. Full service with independent mechanic done, no change.

Then last week sudden loss of power. No dash lights at that stage. Fuel consumption suddenly way down. Made it back home anyway, had the car towed to Volvo main dealer garage.

When driving onto the tow truck, finally engine light came on on dash, but nothing else so far.

Volvo garage came back to me that problem is DPF filter. Ended up that they had to do DPF, new pressure sensor and four new glow bulbs, also filled up eloys fluid. All in all 1040 Euro.

Car was finished today, so they test drove it etc, rang me then I could pick it up but now the ABS light, the reverse lights light and the alarm light are suddenly coming up on the dash, also. I said to him on the phone they hadn't ever come up before...

Anyway, am I right that ABS warning light is connected to the problem with the DPF, or what could be the cause of that?? Guy in the garage said they can look at it but might be another 600 Euro...

Don't know any good independent mechanic in or near Killarney, can anyone recommend what I should do? Think I have major loss of trust in d car now, as it stands now I probably want to get rid of it asap... Just totally at a loss!!

    Any advice appreciated!!

1040 Euro!! -go get your shotgun.

sounds like they tried to remove the dpf, and buggered it up.

    Google Ford DLD engine problems.

How do you mean buggered it up? They replaced it...

I would suggest you ask them politely but firmly to fix this problem which as you say didnt occur until their 'technicians' touched the car. The DPF emissions control systems and ABS have no connection other than CAN multiplexing. I expect they have left an earth connection loose or something minor, regardless they caused the problem and thee jokers should be fixing it. Free.
