TMJ Disc Dislodgement

I had an unrelated surgery about 8wks ago which went very well. About 24hrs after the operation I started noticing a pain down the left side of my face and I could only opened my mouth about 10mm. As the surgery medication started to wear off the pain down my face notched but to the point today where it's constant and intense and I have lost over 12kg in weight as I can't chew food. It appears from X-rays and MRI that my TMJ disc was dislodged during my Intubation for the general anesthesia. I have been through a couple of specialists and have a few things done but the pain is still there and the mouth still won't open. I am now down for surgery to see if they can re-set things.
Up until 8wks ago I didn't know what a TMJ was, just wondering if anybody has ever heard of issues with the TMJ post (unrelated) surgery, I am really worried about the long term issues I might face if the surgery does not go to plan....

A Maxillofacial Surgeon has been treating me and is doing the surgery.

I seen that video, just can't understand how something like this could happen when you are put to sleep for surgery.

    what surgery is planned??

Very wide opening without the muscles to hold the disc in place can allow it to displace forward. They open you pretty wide for intubation....

So he already gave me a steroid injection a few weeks ago which has helped with the pain. Said he will flush the joint out and then try to manipulate things back into place.

Have never heard of anything like this happening before to anyone, is it a common problem with surgery. Can find very little info online.

Reasonable enough plan for initial treatment. It's not common but happens....

Maybe pm me who you are seeing. While all of these guys are trained, some are better at joints than others....
