Antibiotic test kits

Anyone buy/using the charm kits Glanbia are pushing at the moment €280+vat. Rang milk manager about them and he was saying they work for all antibiotics except tylan. We don't use tylan very often but as it happens we are treating a couple of cows with it at the moment. Had intended buying one but unsure now.

Have those snap tests in the fridge but there nearly out of date now. Do they cover all drugs?

I'm not that we'll up on them but does the delvo test cover everything although that takes 3 hours which wouldn't be ideal I think.

Have a Delvo but don't use as too slow.

Snap I find hard to read

Charm I find very good. 3 minute test all cows tested as they calve before release to tank. It the same kit that's in the Glanbia trucks.

I find the real advantage is how quickly fresh cows can be released to tank. Have often pooled 10-12 cows milk in second day, found them clear and released them

    Would recommend Charm.

Thanks, probably will go for charm Rosa eventually and just be aware it doesn't cover tylan. Shouldn't be an issue hopefully.

How much are the test strips(is that right name?) to buy? There's 20 free with that Glanbia offer. Do you just eyeball or did you buy a reader. I'd guess a reader might be too expensive to warrant it for on farm use.
