Im trying to get the Freeview channels on my Samsung smart TV but I dont see any option to scan with Freeview. When setting up the TV I choose UK but wasn't asked for a postcode like others mention.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Freeview is for the Uk and is only available in certain areas of Ireland close to the east coast such as wicklow etc..For freeview you dont use a postcode you simply scan the uk settings, the transmitter you are receiving a signal from automatically selects the relevent bbc and itv for that region

Freesat which is satellite based and not terrestrial based such as freeview uses a postcode to denote the version of bbc and itv you receive.

    where are you based....

Im not sure if you can pick up freeview in Dublin but i would presume as you are only picking up the saorview channels then this is all that's currently possible with your current setup but there are many people on here from dublin who should be able to help more than i can

I already answered this in my first reply
There is no postcode for freeview

Freesat which uses a sat dish and requires a satellite box or a sat tuner to be built in to the tv

There is no freesat branded tvs on the market to my knowledge

The TV I bought is listed in the UK with Freeview HD tuner (not Freesat)

What is the model no. of the TV?

A TV with a satellite tuner will have a screw-on connector (F connector) at the rear near the aerial input, if its not there then you won't be able to connect the satellite dish.

I bought a F connecter to coaxial so I can plug it into the TV

No, different tuners, the co-axial is terrestrial (Saorview/Freeview) via a regular roof aerial. F-connector is for dedicated satellite tuner, Freesat or FTA sat reception via a satellite dish.

The model you purchased appears to be terrestrial only and unlikely to provide you with the UK channels in Ballybrack without an external satellite receiver.

Samsung have a few Freesat models with guide included.

The model you link to is the 6500, no satellite tuner according to the Samsung website but the 6510 does have a DVB-S2 satellite tuner (see under Tech Specs -> Tuner Broadcasting)

As The Cush has said its the 6510 model that has the Freesat tuner built in. If I was you I would return the 6500 and get the 6510 from Currys if that's where you bought it, the £50 extra would be well worth it to have the Freesat tuner so you can get the UK stations!! You will also be able to get the Saorview Stations on this TV as it has both ports
