Looking for 7 seater options?

I am on the look out for 7 seater. I have no idea about cars in this space and what is good/bad etc

Was hoping I could get some ideas here? I have 10k cash but would love to stay under the 10k. If possible would like auto but not a big deal if not.

I have seen a lot of C4 and like something around this size. Trying to stay away from the full sized transit van type thing.

Really just need 2 extra seats with fold up/down and if only for kids that will do the job, won't be putting adults into it....

Mileage per year is not high, do around 20k km per year.

Any options etc would be great, also personal opinions of those cars would be great

    Thanks

I have pretty much the same criteria as yourself and I am just looking for the right car.
I have looked at a mazda 5 and it also has the sliding doors, the interior looks good also.

Have you given any consideration to a Ford Galaxy?
Second row is three seats with two seats at the back.
All the seats fold down and are fully removable.
And comfortable enough when fully loaded with adults.

I seen a few on roads but have always been told the recent Renault are not reliable?

Is the scenic and qashqai+2 similar? Seen that posted somewhere, I know the new qashqai and Renault kajar are the same but didn't think it extended to older models?

What year were they? My misses has a 05 and get about 9.1 litres per 100km not good at all

We have a 09 c4 grand picassa and it does 5.6 l/100km. Very happy with the car overall. Should easily be able to pick up a decent one for 10k

+1 for the Picasso - very economical, reliable and tons of room.

I'd give a vote for the Grand Picasso as well, very comfortable car.

My sister has an S-max which is not as big I think, seats fold up out of the boot floor to make 7 seats but at the expense of boot space.

On the last Galaxy I had the rear seats came out completely,  leaving you with 5 seats and a decent cargo area.

That's a nuisance , many a time we'd leave the house with 5 people and end up picking up a friend / cousin. Taking seats out doesn't sound tempting

You don't have to take them out, they do fold down as well, still leaving a good space.

Are they hidden when folded? In the renault you wouldn't gain space by taking them out

We have a Peugeot 5008, 10 reg, 100k miles, very comfy, quick enough, not sure what the mpg is, but quite a nice thing to drive. Auto hand brake took a wee bit of getting used to, but I love it now, nowhere to leave a coffee cup is the biggest issue. Rearmost set of seats kid sized only, lots of space in the boot when they are folded down, and still a bit when they are raised.

On the one I had (2002 model) they were not hidden, not like the Renault. Can't say about the later models. We bought a Kia Carnival after the the Galaxy, which was finished better and far more comfortable than the Ford, but the road tax became unbearable.

You could also consider the Opel Zafira, only drawback the boot is tiny when the extra seats are in use.

Applies to most 7 seaters to be fair.

We have a 08 Mazda 5 and it is a great car, its a 6 seater though as middle row middle seat is very narrow, it can fold away into the outer seat and become a walkway for the kids to get into the back two seats which are big enough for even adults on short journeys.

All the seats can fold down then if needed for Ikea trips :)

How well kitted out is Picasso? Cruise? Bluebook? Parking sensors?

We have an 08 Picasso and love it as its comfortable, very spacious and well equipped. It has great viewing angles and I have driven a Zafira, Mazda and qashqai and all have very poor drivers views as the A frame is bulky and hard to see past in these cars.
The Picasso has a very good seat folding system and enough space in the rear to hold a buggy and a few things with all 7 seats up. It also has a full 3rd seat in the 2nd row and the floor is completly flat so thats handy for having 3 adults in the 2nd row.

However - we have had nothing but trouble with ours as its a lemon of a car and the engine has given all sorts of issues. I think the engine is in other cars also such as Fords, Volvos, Peugeot so be wary

Overall great car but ours is a disaster and we will be selling it this month

Yup its a diesel - Citroen C4 Picasso Grand Picasso 1.6 HDI VTR Plus EGS 5DR (auto gearbox)

We had a Picasso for four years. Great car to drive and loads if space.

But, they get a bit knackered with higher milage. Over maybe 150K km's maintenance becomes a good deal more expensive
