If there are any Caramac fans here, Dunnes have packs of Caramac bars at the moment. I used to go crazy for them and was delighted to see them again but whether it's my ageing tastebuds or meddling with the recipe, I didn't enjoy them as much as I used to. Just mentioning it in case it's of interest to anyone.

I hadn't seen them for years but they seem to be around again now.
I remembered the taste and to be honest I was not getting it straight away but they do still have that flavour.

Caramac are odd. I eat them, I don't 100% enjoy them but I get addicted to them. I think it's because they're such an odd experience, chocolate texture but something else taste.

I saw them in Dunnes too janmaree, had to swing a wide berth past them in case I found myself having binged on a pack of 3, sitting crying on my train home, going 'but I don't even like them'.

I know what you all mean, I have conflicted feelings myself about them but I've eaten more than my fair share of them over the years and missed them when they were gone. They remind me of the Scottish fudge, "tablet" which I've made many times for the sweet sugar shock that it brings and yet they're also like a white chocolate with something extra. I just thought this time that they needed more salt, to lift the flavour a bit but as I said, it could just be me! The buttons could be useful for cake decorations though!

Dealz are showing regular bars 3 for 1.49, but they have lots more stuff than what shows online.

currently if you spend €15+ you get €3 off your next shop of €18+ within a certain time limit, a few weeks.

Or you can view it as you can get €3 off €33, so 10% off. But they sneakily have most things at 1.49 so you must buy 11 items to get over the first limit, and 13 items to get over €18.

I make a pig of myself every time I go in.

I bought myself a bag of Caramac buttons in Dealz and they do not taste right. I know Caramac tastes addictively weird but this is more disturbingly, grittily weird :( I think someone has been messing around with the recipe.

Reformed caramac addicts who are also snobs: try caramelising white chocolate. You know the way the exposed white choc chips go in cookies? but better, and all the way through. High class caramac like confections

Just to mention that my local Choice Store in Naas had two three-packs for €1 yesterday i.e six bars of Caramac for one measly euro!!! Bargain!!
