Changing flight - Ryanair

I am looking at changing a flight

While I understand that a fee applies, searches also give me far higher flight costs than are available if I was to make a new booking

For example a flight I could book new at €14.99 is showing as €80 if I try to change

    should this be happening?

The admin fees are always silly. Go onto livechat and explain the daftness of the situation to them, they might change your flight for the price of the new booking.

If they dont, just book the new flight. Doesn't really make a difference to you.

Yes the change fee is quite high to stop business men just doing it all the time. They do offer flex fares now if you think you might have to change a flight. Alot of the time it is cheaper to book a complete new flight.

    Folks

The change fee is one thing and I accept that

but the actual flight costs are ALSO much higher....is this the case normally?

It depends when the flight you are changing to is. If it's in a high demand slot, it will be dearer.

    all flights are much higher

as an example a flight to stanstead on the day in question ranges from €15 to €50 but ALL flights every day from Stanstead come up as €80

therefore it will cost me €80 plus change fee of €50 - €130 compared to just €15 for a new booking

If I were you I'd just make the new booking before the price changes! :)

You are probably only getting the regular fare price and not a discounted price and it also may not have free taxes and charges (or discounted charges) - I'd book a new flight myself at the lower fare ASAP before it goes rather than getting Ryanair to do it!

well yes I am not going to pay more than I have to....I just cannot figure out the price difference works.

Is your flight this week or next by any chance. You could also see if it would be cheaper to make a new booking with a different carrier. Do you need to change both your outward and your return tickets.

Oh when you mention the price differential between flying to and from Stansted I am assumed you were changing an entire return trip. :)
