    Hi everyone!

Ive a large patch of black mould in my en suite, and a tiny bit in the corner of the bedroom! What should I do? Can I tackle it myself?

    Thank you

It should wipe off with warm soapy water. Spray bleach left on for a few minutes will take any stubborn patches.

You'll need to take a look at your ventilation as well to prevent a reoccurrence. The amount of mould near a sleeping area would concern me.

Thats what I was thinking.... There is no ventilation in the en suite only the ceiling fan. Could it be blocked?

check the attic and see did the electrician put back the insulation when he wired the pull switch it could be causing a cold spot which is letting moisture condense on plaster board

The ceiling fan is for smells not steam. At best it very slightly circulates the air in the on suit. They do not suck the steam out. Architects have gotten away with this for years. I'm guessing that there is no outside wall in this room but if there is then a wall airvent would make a big difference

Even if the fan has the power to move air / steam to outside, if the window is closed and the bathroom door is closed and the door is a snug fit in the frame and liitle to no gap at the bottom of the door, then you will not have air circulation, therefore the fan is rendered useless anyway.

When you remove it and solve your v ventilation, there is an anti-bacterial paint you can use.

This mould can spore and cause respiratory issues

Vinegar is equally good as bleach as is tea tree oil. Kill it before you wipe it so it doesn't spread, if you tackle mould in your house tackle all of it
