    Hi,
im returning home from Australia for good in two weeks and wondering where is the best place to get insurance quotes. Rang a few places and am getting really high quotes like 2000.
Have only 1 years no claims bonus from Australia. Any recommendations are appreciated

You've got to do the legwork. The only alternative is ask someone to do it for you (A Broker).

    • Your Australian no claims is likely not transferable to most companies (Other side of the road and outside the EU, they'll use any excuse they can) You will need to ask each company in turn.
    • Irish license will certainly help if you happen to be on an Australian one
    • Car age, get it under 10 years or you will be loaded or flat out refused. This is a major pain point at present.
    • Insure your mother or partner on the same policy, this can often bring down the premium
    • Brokers will do the leg work for you and I would suggest using them
    • Beware cheap insurance in Ireland, there are a good deal of cheap quotes that have massive excesses.

Australia drive on the lett. Same as us. Generally Australian bonuses are well accepted for that reason.

Apologies, was just citing excuses I've heard when others from outside Ireland have tried to have their no claims accepted. Worth a shot I suppose!
