Any recommendations for a good quality & fairy price cow mat?
What should I look out for?

Alfco Trim. A good selection available. Cheap and cheerful up to Luxury spec. I went for a budget price 17mm thick mat for spring calvers, so mostly dry cows.
€32 each. they are interlocking and held down with 4 screws.

mayo mats are good enough for cows. you'd lay on them yourself. 60 euro a mat iirc. no need for expensive roll out mats.

Resurrecting this thread - anyone buy cow mats recently? What kind of money did you pay? I priced 6x4x25mm for around 70e at the co-op. I imagine I’ll get VAT back on them.

I bought some last week, production seconds but technically perfect. 6 x 4 x approx 25mm. €40 each but I know a guy.
Brilliant job, should have got them years ago.

Yeah they were pricey well but a good solid mat. Have found the thinner ones tear easily. Saw the same mat for 82e online. Picked up a couple. The cows are mad for them.
Any recommendations where to get them for less? Don’t see too many online?

You wouldn't be throwing too many of them around. Very heavy. Have them here too

Has any one mats in a creep/calving pen?
    would these interlocking ones do?

I bought Mayo mats last week. Priced at €50 + VAT for new ones, variety of sizes.
He got 50 of them as seconds, blemishes you wouldn't notice and the cows definitely wont notice, they were €43 + VAT

Four or five I measured wrong he took them back and replaced them with the right size

Also very good on advice, when I rang up first he gave me a full run down of dos and donts. In one of my sheds the cubicles were 6'9", he told me I was wasting my time with mats until I rectified that issue, the cubicle should be 7'6" for jersey cows and slightly longer for bigger cows.
Very helpful, I had considered a slightly cheaper mat but everyone you talk to about Mayo mats seems happy and given his customer service I'm happy I went with him

Funny that this thread jumps up as we were just discussing this ourselves.
We have some calves and we scrape them down and re bed them. Interlocking mats sound ideal.
Are there any grips on them which would hinder cleaning them down?

We are thinking of putting mats down on the calf creep over the winter for the Autumn calves. Has anyone done this that could advise on what type etc.. Thks
