Just wondering as I've never found a good hands free kit to use. Mine's a 318 2001 and its fully wired for the phone kit, but wondering are there any third party integrations that would let me connect an android through the speaker system.

When you say pre wired, what do you mean?
Has it got the phone cradle in the arm rest and a Bluetooth connection or is it he older wired Motorola handset?

Older version I'd imagine as its exactly as it left the factory in 2001 - there's no cradle, but the wiring is there (as per the factory manual) & it traces back to boot close to where the wiring for the CD changer sits. Wheel has the phone R/T fitted.

I was just wondering if any third party has come up with a use for these for modern phones - ebay brings up some USB devices, but I was specifically looking to link the smartphone through

You either need a bluetooth ulf module and wiring (ebay 100-200 notes) which will fully integrate , or you could buy a parrot mk3100 and fit that instead,
