Did anyone bring a camera or are you planning to?

I'm going tonight and am considering bring my xt1, a 14, and maybe a 35.

    Will I get turned away?

Most likely, yeah, you will be turned away. Look at your ticket, and/or the terms and conditions. It usually says no video/no photography.

They're saying cameras smaller than 35mm will be allowed.

Mainly I'm wondering about going in with lenses. Will that make them sus and make them turn me down.

    Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

From the 3 arena website -
"We are happy for you to bring 35mm cameras to most events, but professional style cameras are strictly prohibited. Video or any other form of recording equipment is also strictly prohibited. At certain events, the promoter or artist may request a ban on all photography. If this is the case announcements will be made in the venue. "

So, it all depends on the guy/girl at the gate and what they decide is "professional style". Also, U2 tend to be strict on their rights, so they may have a total ban on cameras.

You won't know until you show up, and the worst thing may be that you are rejected. Is it really worth that risk???

    Rang the venue there.

I explained what I was thinking of bringing, and that it'd fit in a good sized pocket. They said I'd be fine.

    where are you sitting?
i've never brought a camera to a gig except when i was taking photos for the band. the notion of bringing a camera to a gig where i'm a paying punter seems too much like a PITA, as you're very unlikely to be close enough to get photos which will be worth the hassle.

For gigs like this that I am not shooting officially and I really want to get a photo of the show, I bring my point and shoot. Worked a treat last night. Not as great as having my DSLR and editing a RAW shot but it did the trick for what I wanted.

    Standing.

I just kind would like a good wide shot with the screens down, etc.

I'm not a mental U2 fan, so if I were to get good shots of the visuals I'd be happy.

It's not like an XT1 with a 14mm is a big beast to deal with.

I brought my Nikon D7100. I got quite anxious when I seen the security using metal detectors on people entering the venue, however they deemed the que to be moving too slow and as I approached the door we were ushered in.
