Why do people climb under a table during an earthquake

    Googled it, but all I found was instructions for what to do during an earthquake (ie climb under a table).

    Probably to protect you from things around you that might fall. Better to hit the top of the table than you.

    Doorways historically where stronger points in the home and would have had a better chance of staying upright than the rest of the house, that is no longer true for most modern designs so it is better to get under a sturdy table or bed and wait it out.

    Unless the tables of them flat-packed yokies..with a burning desire to return to the state in which it was delivered. You need a good chunky table. And earthquakes. Both are scarce in Ireland.
