Tomorrow morning my son is having a look at a 2007 Auris Hatchback 1.4 D4D. It has 160,000 kms on the clock. What should he be checking for on the car. TIA.

On any diesel car, the service history is important. The service interval on these is 15,000km or 12 months.
Listen out for Whitney gearbox, particularly in the higher gears.

Yes. I typed whiney but Autocorrect :)

i would advise driving their cars from the same class too for comparison. The Auris isn't a class leader by any stretch, although it has a very strong structure and did very well in crash tests, good for cabin space too.

The Whitney gearbox is important to watch out for. Otherwise you will be asking yourself 'how will I know?' and you don't want to get stuck at the side of the road thinking 'I wanna drive with somebody'. 'I have nothing' more to say on it and I hope your son finds the 'greatest car of all'.

Sorry I just COULD NOT resist.
