Advice on my level of cycling

    Hi

I cycle to work each day, which is a 24k round trip.

I have just bought a specialized roubaix pro carbon 2008 Road bike, I done my 1st cycle on this on Sunday. I have nothing to compare this to.

So my question is what level would I be at?

I was thinking of joining a cycle club and maybe start racing but if the attached cycle is well below par (that I would make a fool of myself), I would keep training myself and join one later

Many people who join a cycling club realise they waited unnecessarily long. It's not like qualifying for the Olympics.

If you can ride your bike for an hour or so without falling off then you're good enough.

The Blanch Wheelies tour wasn't much faster than that and that had the benefit of a group
You're well able for a club
BW are probably your nearest(unless you started in Howth!)

Those stats show that you're more than ready for a club spin. Most clubs have different groups that go out at different paces so you can pick whichever group you think you're most suited to.

      Just go for it!

Not falling off is not a prerequisite....

Many clubs do introductory spins and Cycling Ireland should extend insurance cover for up to 3 spins before you need to join up. I would suggest contacting local clubs to get a feel for what they can offer.
