Just opened a letter there from the Garda and inside was a cheque for €80 and a letter telling me that the three points they gave me are null and void!
There are worse ways to start the day. That's €80 more for the U2 fund tonight Whoo Hoo.

If anyone reading this got zapped on the Balrothery road a few months back, keep your eye open.
    Good luck.

Yeah friend got the letter and cheque this morning. FCC must not have passed the speed limit into bye law.

Did you appeal or was it just good luck? Congrats either way.

While there doesn't seem to be an actual Balrothery Road, I'm guessing the OP means the road that runs by Balrothery in north country Dublin, just before Balbriggan.

Sorry! No such thing as the Balrothery road, I'm a blow in. I meant the road that goes past the Balrothery Inn coming from Balbriggan.

The sneaky whores nabbed loads of people coming and going. When I went to pay the fine in my local P.O. the girl behind the counter showed me an enormous stack of notices from others before me.

I didn't appeal or anything like that, I just got a nice surprise this morning.

I also got one of these letters this morning, as did a mate of mine. €120 refund (missed the deadline to pay the €80 fine by one day as the form was returned to me while I was away and I had to send it in again), plus the three points rescinded. Lovely.

The official location acording to the ticket was Glebe South, which I'd never heard that road called before.

Got mine as well. Happy days had 3 points given to me for this as I already had 2 from a previous speeding fine a couple of years ago. I will now have zero.

Best Monday I've had in a while.

Just to throw a Spaniard in the works. What happens if someone got hit then renewed insurance stating they had the points... Would the insurance company refund the difference or is that like waiting on the tooth fairy?

They would have to refund you, wouldn't they?

It says on the letter that there was no legal basis for receiving them so one would assume that a refund would be forthcoming...but I'm probably wrong...

What points are getting rescined? Is there a specific date when you had to get the points? I got three points in September 2014 will they be rescinded?

    Yes.

Three years after they were applied.

Hi does anyone know why the are rescinding the points and fine. I got a fine in the post today. I was travelling south doing 75km at the tennis courts. I wonder would this apply to me?

I don't know why they were rescinded but I would definitely go and ask the Gardaí as you were travelling south. I was also travelling south when I was tagged.
