Hey I don't know if I'm posting this in the right are but here goes.... Myself and partner are moving to Dublin he needs to go to the ifsc and I need to go to Dundrum. Any suggestions as to areas we could look at that don't leave either of us with a bad commute?

    Thanks

Bit awkward that. Anywhere on the Luas red line is ideal for you, but leave him with a walk each morning from Stephen's Green to the IFSC. Which is not the end of the world, but, still.

Anywhere on the Dart is handy for him, but not so hot for you, since Dundrum is a considerable hike, through typically very congested traffic, from any Dart station.

I'd say that living on the Luas line is the less bad of the two options.

Are either of you driving or will it be all public transport?

There is no perfect solution here due to Dublin's disjointed public transport, one of you is going to have a bit of a walk at some point.

The walk from St Stephens Green to the IFSC is about 20 minutes which isn't too bad, I would go anywhere along the Green Luas. Maybe somewhere like Ranelagh to cut down on his Luas time.

Budget and type of property you would like would be useful too.

    Renting I presume?

You might aswell Cycle to IFSC from Ranelagh.

Yea you could do that too if you don't mind being cold! :D

I guess in general it is easier to get from Stephens Green to the IFSC than it would be to get from an area served by the DART to Dundrum, which is why I'd lean toward somewhere along the Green Line.

Live out past dundrum, both get luas, he gets dublin bike at charlemont (ranelagh area) for ahandy 10 min cycle to IFSC. Thats my life, works well and has done so for 5 years.

Live in either Dundrum or the IFSC. Both have lots of apartments but they will be pricey unfortunately.
