i am just wondering, i would normally send 40 bullocks to the factory every year all in one sale but this year i am caught a bit for space, if i was to sell say half 3 weeks before the last bunch would this reduce my bargaining power by selling them in two bunches as last year it worked in my favour as when i was pricing around alot of agents were very interested as i had them all fit to go together in a large number, opions please

Rang a few agents/factories last week. Two of them never asked what numbers I had. They were all singing off the same sheet 3.90 and 4.00. Bullocks and heifers. All without my Ifa levy of course!!!!

    In a nutshell.
OP you also have to allow for the extra cost of haulage if you split them into two lots.

Surely they wouldn't all fit into the one load anyways would they not?

A load here is usually 15 or 16. A double is 30 -truck and trailer. This is because the truck body is bigger than the trailer than it pulls.

No he's from cork! Went to the double deck from truck and trailer. Said it's easier if he had to bring say 20 before he'd to drag the trailer all the way were now he can just go with truck unless he's a big big load

I remember last time I was down in Cork seeing one with a red lorry, that was well over a year ago now. Wonder if there are many of them in Ireland?

It's very funny how lads go completely off topic from the question the OP originally asked.
The OP is not looking for info or knowledge on the make up of different types of lorries so can people try and stay with the topic

Didn't mean to be rude or anything just think a topic is a topic and if people want to discuss cattle lorries then start a new thread on that.

We allow threads to meander off to different topics that develop naturally. For a start it keeps the thread around the main page so the OP will get more viewings and answers as it's easier seen. Secondly it's natural chat progression which we try to encourage here, nothing will ever stay on topic and it doesn't work very well if all off topic chat is banned- we'd have very poor post ratings if so.

I have a load of 12 overage bullocks to go. If I wanted to send in one load what cost of haulage to Athleague 15 minutes or Ballinasloe 30 minutes.

Mixed O grade cattle. Any advantage to selling flat price as opposed to on the grid.

Could someone please PM me details of who the buyer of cattle is in Liffey Meats Ballinasloe? Also if anyone has the name of a haulier with a lorry capable of hauling 12 cattle in the Ballinasloe / Athleague area it would be appreciated. Thanks.
