    Hi all,

    I am considering buying a "new" car for a good bit of motorway driving, so it will need to be a diesel with reasonable poke and comfort. We drive about 30k km a year in total, with my wife going back and forth between Carlow and Clane several times a week. Budget a paltry 3000 euros tops, but less would be even better! :)

    Apart from the obvious 1.9 TDi Passats, Octavias and A4s and suchlike I have been considering a cheap diesel Vectra, but I have very little knowledge of them. Here's one I found for sale, on the face of it looks like a decent car (obviously provided it has some service history and so on);

    http://www.carsireland.ie/detail.php?ad_id=1382276&r=s.php%3Fl%5B%5D%3Dp2%26d%3D500%26e%3D3000%26f%3D2%26nx%3D14%26nn%3D10%26b%3D2%26pp%3D50%26g%3D0

    What would the main points be to look out for with these cars? Generally speaking I'm not too concerned about highish mileage as long as the condition is good and there is some evidence of regular service.

    Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions!
