Finding out if property owner is willing to sell?

This may be a bit of an odd question, but there is a property I've been looking at that I am interested in possibly purchasing. The only problem is that it is not currently for sale...

I don't think anyone is currently living there, and it's not in a great condition, but I've always been interested in a fixer-upper.

I'm not exactly sure how I find out who the owner is to make contact. I have heard of a few people snapping up properties like this, but I don't know how to go about it.

    Any advice?

If you think it's vacant, I'm sure the neighbours would have some background for you. That would be my first port of call.

You could do a voter registry check to see if anyone is registered at the address and go from there. https://www.checktheregister.ie/PublicPages/Default.aspx?uiLang=

You need at least part of a surname to use that

Though if you can check a physical register they are sorted by address

Another option may be to go to https://www.landdirect.ie/pramap.aspx/#

Find the property on the map

Purchase the folio for €5.00, it will list the current owners name and address.

Remember the owners address may be listed in the land registry folio as the property itself if they lived there when they got it into there name or they may have moved since getting it into there name and the folio is not updated, so address may not be accurate but name should be accurate.

I'd ask at the local sorting office. If there has ever been a postal redirect they will tell you.

Speak to the neighbours and say you are seeking to buy a property in the area. You will then meet the local know-all who will give you chapter and verse on the ownership of the house you are interested in.
