Avensis 02 - Engine Light

    Hi,

Well the dreaded engine light came on, popped open the hood and a cable is tangling near the timing belt but I can't find a slot to connect it to.
Bit of Googling reveals it to be Headlight Beam Level Control Actuator cable (maybe?)

Google the part Num 90980-11016 and it's the first image.
    HOUSING CONNECTOR F

Would this cause the engine light to light up?
I'm I safe to continue to drive that car with this engine light on?
Any ideas to reconnecting the cable?

Could you post a link to the picture? What Google shows me doesn't make sense.
I doubt if headlamp leveler wirebreak would generate a fault light; could it be a wire to some sensor.
If you get an engine warning light, the Toyota manual (petrol) states "Take vehicle to Toyota dealer", so it should be safe to drive a moderate distance. Not sure if it is the same for a diesel.

Can't post links. Googling "90980-11016" will bring up images of that wire, it's a 3 pin plug shape.

Yea read that warning in the manual book.

Take a look what is connected to both headlight housings and compare against each other. If the cable you mentioned really is the one you think it is, comparison would likely show where it has to be connected to.

And no, that one would not get the EML light on, so reading the codes is highly recommended.

Headlight adjustment would not bring on eml. People disconnect the motors when they give trouble as they are prone to issues like self adjustment or the roller in the cabin stops working correctly. I'd imagine it's a coil pack which are cheap. Check the oil level change the plugs disconnect the battery for 30 mins and reconnect. See if that cancels the light. If it does and light returns check each coil pack individually as previously described
