My mother is trying to sell her old car and the tax was up on it the start of this month and the nct at the end of the month.
I was thinking getting the NCT for another 2 years would help sell the car but she doseant want to tax the car as its just sitting in the drive.

Cars not worth much, 07 Altea xl 2L TDi dsg,ex taxi with 220K Km

Its not clear if or what you're asking?

Can the car be sent for the NCT if the tax is expired or will they refuse/fail it as theres no tax on the car.
BTW i can trailer the car to the NCT center

It won't be a problem as the NCT dont require valid tax, or insurance for that matter; they'll test the car regardless.
Had the car been declared off-the-road before the tax expired then the car could be driven to and from the test centre otherwise you'd be safer to trailer the car there.

You will have to either book a test online or over the phone.
They normally won't help you with making a booking in person at your local centre.

They haven't posted notifications for years. You might get one for the car's first ever test but after that it's entirely up to you to keep track.

We've gotten posted notifications of tax and nct renewals for all of our cars.

You'll get one for tax as it gives you your PIN for paying online. I haven't received a reminder from NCT for a few years.
