Signal strength

Since the recent storm I believe the dish moved as with some channels for input 1 sign strength and quality it says not locked or sometimes has strength around 50% but quality at 10% but no picture. For input 2 it is at 75% for both strength and quality. Would that indicate that the dish moved slightly or an issue with the lnb?

Could be wrong ( would not be first time ) but depending on what channel your looking at some are V vertical or H horizontal and the box acheives this by sending different voltage to lnb based on the channel settings
could be faulty lnb acting up
Most sky dishes these days have quad lnb
you could swap cables at the lnb to a free connection and try again
I would think if the dish had moved both V & H signals would be affected

Is this a Sky box, which I believe would use the same default frequency for the signal measurements on input 1 & 2?

If that's the case, you would have to suspect maybe water ingress into the input 1 cable.

This has happened to me recently and I am wondering the best course of action, would it be better just get the cable replaced independently (how much would this cost?) or go through the proper channels and contact Sky and perhaps get a whole new setup (I am a long standing customer so would be hopeful of bargaining with them!)

If it is water ingress just waterproof the connections.

Water ingress is also likely at any point along an external cable , especially if it had not been properly secured on roof or wall.
A good reason to use a reputable independent rather than sky contract installers who tend to just leave cables lying on the roof as they are under pressure to get the job done in an impossible timeframe .

I cant seem to receive NHK World Hd anymore, not sure if the new frequency is a weak transponder or if the dish or lnb skew needs looking at?
Using ariva 120 combo, parameters are as follows.
    Any thoughts appreciated.

    11224 V DVB-S2
    8PSK
    MPEG-4
    HD
    23000
    2/3

Those are the correct settings. I find it is marginally weaker than some but only by a few %. Your dish may need a slight tweak

    After you've replaced the cable.

Every connection outside should be protected. It takes nothing to wrap them in self algamating tape where it is needed. Every drilled hole should be adequately filled.
