Had a tyre replaced last week and ABS and stability control inoperative since.Local Suzuki dealer quoted 1100 Euro for a new control unit.
I've changed wheels myself many times on my Focus and up to recently,on a Corolla and never a problem with ABS afterwards.

Did the Suzuki dealer give you any indication that the two things are linked.

Can you go into more detail as to when things stopped working relative to getting puncture-taking wheel off, putting spare on, bringing to tyre fitter etc etc

No more detail really,my wife uses the Swift, she got a puncture and a good man changed the wheel for her at the roadside,no warning lights.
Only when the new tyre was put on at a tyre fitter's place that the 2 indicators came on after the job being done.
The tyre fitter suggested a local car electrics shop to check it,Euro 30 less and he confirmed nothing wrong with the wheel sensor but that the ECU for the ABS needed re-flashing etc.
Local Suzuki dealer next stop says that the ABS ECU is faulty and that he would try to source a secondhand one for her.
The car is 11 D and a one owner before us and purchased at a main dealer in Kildare and 55kMs.
If she hit a wall or somebody drove into her and caused damage,I'd accept that **** happens but to replace a tyre and this huge bill now waiting for me!
Reminds me of Peugeots and Citroens I had from an earlier life, never again!

Is the new tyre exactly the same size as the others? What is written on each tyre?

The car monitors the speed of each wheel, suspension position, engine speed, steering angle and a load of other things for stability control to get a full picture of what the car is doing.

If the spare(space saver?) is fitted, the readings may be so out of kilter that the ECU knows/guesses that the spare is fitted, and doesn't throw an error. If the new tyre is just a little off in terms of circumference, the ECU might be confused and knock itself off rather than try to intervene.

I'd still put my money on the tyre fitter damaging the sensor, absolute gob****es a lot (not all) of them.

Both tyres are exactly the same specification as the front pair!
Well when I say exactly, the tyre sizes etc all match.
