Need to get rid of passat 08, high mileage & expensive problems, it needs to go...

So with a trade in (not sure how much I'll get) and possible loan of 12,000 what would you guys recommend me to for?

    I've no brand loyalty

I like diesel and similar size car and would like to come up the years

Now a good time to buy or wait till January?

Not car savvy so any info appreciated

Why Diesel? Do you do a lot of Mileage? Diesels are more expensive to maintain, unless your doing serious miles id go for a mid size petrol.

The older models were 2.0+ Petrol and 2.4 Diesel. Like most manufacturers they need to move with the time so they made available a 1.6 Diesel S80!

Good move as they sold like hot cake and Volvo re very underratedin my Opinion.

My next motor will most likely be a Volvo XC70 AWD as standard

Out of interest how are the 1.6psa in these S80's fairing reliability wise. Does it suffer with simiar isues like mazda ford or has volvo tweaked it some way. Drove a mondeo for 2yrs with same engine and it drove pretty well. Not wonderful economy but 55 possible with v light foot. Usually 47mpg.

My mates 1.6 V50 uses the same diesels as Peugeot! Not sure about the S80 but regular oil cheaper were very important or the turbo went boom! Lots of turbos went due to the 'ah it will be fine attitude' and the long service interval which volvo quickly shortened.

The 2.0 diesel in the same car was Ford and gave the usually ford issues!

May be up for correction but the 06+ S80 1.6 diesel is a Ford not Peugeot!

Just remember when looking at a car do some googling! Most cars ate made up of other cars!
