    Evening,

Got a visit from tv licence inspector, he was confused as our rented property is sort of split into 2 1 self contained flat which where i live and the main house. Essentially we live in extension of the old house and so there is only 1 address being for the main residence. Anyway he was a nice guy and chatted about other unrated things as he was confused about the house and numbers. Anyway he gave me a yellow slip of paper just saying some details about his visit and told me to get the licence from the post office.

He didn't mention anything about a fine ect... is it an automatic fine for this or is it the discretion of the inspector?

    Many thanks

You only get fined by being found guilty in court.

You have to be pretty determined to get a fine.

Do you have your own electricity meter? If so then you are considered as your own unit and require a licence, if your electricity is supplied from the same meter as the house then there licence will cover you.

No fine until you go to court, you'll get several letters, ignore them till they give you a final warning and then get a new licence from that date
