Underpaid USC throughout year

    Hi,
Quick question, I think I underpaid USC throughout the first half of this year. I changed employment recently and this week got charged 184 euro USC in my payslip. Would this be revenues way of collecting the underpayment? A bit of a shock to be down so much. Thanks.

Sounds like it. USC is charged on a cumulative basis. So the new employer, assuming they have your P45 from previous employment, will operate the cumulative USC due for current week and make any adjustment for underpayment/overpayment through your wages on behalf of Revenue.

Deal with your first sentence first . get your P45 and check USC paid against your gross pay year to date .

I definitely underpaid.I wasn't paying it at all up until the end of July as they assumed my pay would be under the threshold, as it turns out it's not. I didn't think they'd take the whole lot at once though, ahh well.
