iPhone OE plugs

Why are these so stiff to fit in and remove from sockets? I've had 5 iPhones and my wife 3 and all have been the same. The plug supplied with my 6S is very difficult to get out of the socket as it is so tight. Do they use slightly larger spacing between the pins? Of the hundreds of various items I've ever owned that have plugs fitted, I've only ever experienced difficulty with Apple items.
