    Hi,
Just wondering has anyone tried a virtual reality set for a smartphone, something like Google Cardboard?

What are they like, does the novelty wear off extremely quickly, is there much good content?
They look like fun but I imagine they could be a 5 minute novelty and never worn again.

    Thanks,
    Pa.

I got a Google Cardboard device. I've probably used it for twenty minutes overall, and about fifteen more when showing friends. It's a gimmick, but an interesting one.

The proof of concept for it is exactly what it's meant to be. Something like a piece of cardboard and plastic and you can enjoy immersive content.

Does it look like you're there? No. Is it fun? Yes. Is there much content? To a point. There's lots in the Play Store. Is there anything else? Yep, 3D Porn. Is it worth buying one? Yeah, but the novelty will wear off. Mine is sitting on my desk.

Make one, buy one cheap online if you're getting something else delivered, or just wait until things get better. It's a fun concept, buy that's about it. Nothing compares to the devices worth several hundred Euro.

Honestly, I'd prefer to see more augmented reality devices for smartphones over virtual reality.
