There's a section in the bord bia book for it, but I can't see any problem with printing off sheets with the same columns as the blue book and filling that in and stick the sheet in the back of the blue book. If you don't have the bord bia pack, he'll either give one or order you one, so you'll have that for the next time

Started recording on excel sheet this year after bord via inspector told us to when our book got full.

Yep excel perfectly fine, no need to print out either, just have the laptop with it opened for the inspection. Athlough make sure you backup the file regularly, emailing it to yourself is a handy way of doing this.

You can record into a copy book if you please as long as you record. Keep your scripts.

They only want to see a written record

I ran out of space too so went to the stationary supplies and bought a blue business studies copy for 50c (#2 I think). Has the same number of columns as the blue book. Auditor was here a month ago and was happy with it.
Doesn't make sense to give ya 75 pages to write in tag numbers but only a dozen to record treatments for those animals:rolleyes:

On a different note, I know a chap who keeps all his records and herd online. The day of his audit either he wasn't able to log into agfood or the rural broadband crashed. The auditor gave him a bollocking for not keeping a hard copy.

Herdwatch is great for medicine , it tells u exactly what u should have in ur cabinate and u can c it if u have bad coverage or none and Bord bia have approved it

Sorry but slightly of topic. How do I dispose of out of date medicines.?
Is vet or Co Op obliged to take stuff.
Just after cleaning out the old man's padlocked fridge and some stuff out of date 5 years ! So means the stuff was probably bought at least 7 or 8 years ago

    Another question.
If your animal health register record is not that up to date and you're promising to get it sorted as most of the prescriptions are there/on vets bill, how far back will the inspector want to see records/dates for IYKWIM. ? Is the last 12 months adequate? It 'ok' up to end 2013.
Purely hypocritical question as my remedies section is perfect  I'm asking for a friend

You should bring it back to whoever you get your animal remedies from, they are required to take it back for disposal.

Of all the people, if a Bord Bia inspector gave me a bollicking I'd give him/her the door.

Did the dairy one flew through but when cert came I got average for grass usage. I'm grazing 290 day with stock and 365 with young stock growing 18 tonne of dm. It's a pure joke. I've no regard for it and couldn't care less if I pass or fail.

I accept it may be different with beef from a factory point of view

I use that template but rejigged it on excel, made the colums larger and reduced the outer margins to nil.
I still use the blue book herd register for cattle and a hand written remedies record - call it an age thing but I prefer paper and ink over relying on a laptop/computer.
