Pellet gun for marking sheep

This might seem over the top but is there any cheap pellet gun that one could buy to use on marking animals out in the field. For instance, I brought in sheep to pair feet today, out in the field it was easy to see which ones had to be done, when it's hailing rain & the sheep are huddled in the corner it's hard to see them. Sure it could have other uses too, often want to mark lambs before I bring them in.

Have often thought about this myself and thought about asking to borrow a paint balling gun to see how it would work. Nothing worse than seeing a lame ewe in the field and bringing them all into the yard to try and identify her, whilst all the others are then at risk of getting lame from standing about in a dirty yard.
You'll be in the IFJ inventions awards yet (or dragons den).

I dunno... They're flighty enough at times, without driving em quare firing things at em...

Run em all through a footbath. If one is very bad in the yard, mark her, if the same one is bad again later, cull her...

No problem seeing the lame ones when they come out of the footbath

Ha, I can just imagine this. What if you hit the wrong one?! You'd have to be pretty close for accuracy and that would be sore! The young lad would love it though!

Well lads it turns out that you can in fact get such a gun, no points for guessing where?!
You can actually buy a tranquilliser gun too!
Perhaps I'm watching to many wild life programmes.

Just in case anyone is seriously thinking of following up on any of this, dart guns and paintball guns and the like are all considered to be Firearms under Irish law and must be licensed as such.
Possession of an unlicensed firearm is a very serious offence with heavy penalties.
Just saying; wouldn't want anyone to get into trouble by trying to import or possess something along these lines.

Yup, and it gets worse. Due to an oversight in the law most paintball guns are "restricted short firearms" and you can't get a license for them.

The Gardai turn a blind eye towards commercial paintball operations, but it's up to €20,000 and/or 7 years in jail if your local Garda decides to make an issue of it.
