My wife has been working as a contractor with a major multinational. She has being doing it through a company which was set up for this purpose. It now looks like the contract will be terminated and she is wondering if she is entitled to JSA. She has worked here for approx the last 13 months and paid PRSI etc. Previous to this she had been unemployed for years although some years back would have had continuous employment for about 10 years or more.
Is she entitled to anything while she looks for other work??

She can apply for JSA but will be means tested against both of your income and any other savings and investments etc you both have in excess of 20000

So essentially she gets nothing back from the 13 months Social Insurance she has paid if the means test disqualifies her??

Yes, at this stage she hasn't paid anything like enough PRSI to get the benefit of it.
In actual fact I think she may have only paid an "s" stamp which will never quaility her for any "benefits" except State Pension
